Becoming a parent of a child with a hearing disability can be overwhelming. First Signs provides resources and services that empower and assure parents that their family can look forward to a bright future.

As the website is often accessed by parents in the sensitive first stages of exploring the impact on their child’s development, there was a need for a calm, clear and reassuring experience. A soothing balance of down to earth and uplifting colours combined with organic shapes provided a sense of comfort while exploring the new found world of sign language.

Designed for browsing in comfort

It was important that the website was easily accessible on various screen sizes, and optimised for tablets and phones so parents could pick their favorite spot to explore the content.

A light playful interface with simple navigation and in-depth search facility assists parents to find specific content and help fast. And in close consultation with the FirsSigns team we narrowed down the requirements to create an easy to use content management system so the team couly upload fresh content with minimum effort.

Empowered to navigate a new world

Website architecture followed a natural progression where parents could start at "first steps", introducing and preparing new parents to first signs. Following on with more practical and engaging content around getting started and learning sign language. A resource section provides further information about programmes, services, and available resources.

A bright future

First Signs has grown tremendously in the past 5 years, and currently offers a range of in-home services to complement their online resources. It was a great opportunity to be involved in, and assisted with the launch of such an incredible service.
